AIDS victory

According to a survey conducted by The Independent, many scientists studying AIDS, believe that the invention of a vaccine against AIDS happen very neskoro, and some even hold the view that effective immunization against this virus will not ever. This pessimistic sentiment spread in the international community of scientists dealing with the problem of AIDS, after testing a promising vaccine late last year, which ended in failure. This was yet another setback in the 25 - year struggle scientists for the invention vaccine against AIDS. Only two of 35 leading scientists dealing with the problem of AIDS in Britain and the United States, praised the prospects for the development of AIDS vaccine with greater optimism than a year ago, and four showed more optimism than five years ago. Most scientists believe that a vaccine against AIDS will not appear in the next ten years, some even claimed that will be held not less than 20 years before the vaccine can be applied against manifestations of infection or AIDS. In doing so, even scientists who consider that the vaccine may appear in the next ten years, not sure that this vaccine will be truly effective preventive tool against the virus. The main conclusion of unsuccessful clinical trials of promising vaccine samples, was that the model test on monkeys more than a decade, does not work when applied to humans. The National Institute of Allergology and infectious diseases USA (NIAID), located near Washington, spends some 500 million dollars (250 million pounds) a year to develop a vaccine against AIDS. Despite calls by some teams to utilize those funds for other ways to fight AIDS, NIAID Director Dr. Fausi said that is still too early to terminate the search for a vaccine. The meeting was the decision to redirect their efforts from costly clinical trials to basic research to examine the nature of the virus and its effects on the human immune system. Nearly 33 million people worldwide are infected with AIDS. The vaccine could be the most effective means of preventing the spread of the virus, given the failure of many educational programs. click here
